Dr. Theo Batistas
As a dentist, I have the opportunity to play many roles. I get to serve as a health care provider who addresses my patient's general dental health with vigor and effort. I get to help my patients get the cosmetic outcome they hope for. I get to be a skilled technician who must pay attention to detail, while making use of the wide spectrum of materials, techniques, and equipment that are available to benefit my patients. However, what I love the most about being a dentist are the long term relationships that I have established with my patients.
In order to become a dentist, I acquired the following certificates:
- BS - Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA
- DDS - Medical College of VA School of Dentistry
- GP Residency - Veteran's Administration Medical College in D.C.
As a dentist, I continuously strive to know the newest procedures and be familiar with the most advanced dental technology. I am currently pursuing a fellowship through the Academy of General Dentistry, and have attained my Oral Sedation certification through the Dental Organization of Conscious Sedation. I have also participated in many hours of continuing education in all phases of general dentistry.
I have worked very hard for many years to become a competent and compassionate dentist. Our team is composed of a group of caring, friendly individuals who go above and beyond to ensure your visit is as comfortable as possible. It is an honor to work with such talented people and to serve such a warm and wonderful community.
Dr. Edward Kim
Being a general dentist gives me the opportunity to offer my patients a wide spectrum of dental treatments. I have been able to increase my dental knowledge by attending continuing education for minimal sedation, implants and occlusion disorders. I love that this office offers a family approach to both dentistry and the patients that visit our practice. We have a great community connection that I appreciate since I am a Virginia native.
I grew up in Northern Virginia and attended Annandale High School. I received my undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary and I have my Masters Degree in Biology. I received my dental degree from the Medical College of Virginia. I am currently a member of the American Dental Association as well as the Northern Virginia Dental Society. I am also a certified Invisalign Provider.
When not working, you could usually find me fishing, hanging out with family and friends or taking the occasional trip.
Dr. Maritza Diaz
Welcome! I am Dr. Diaz. I am so proud to say that I have been practicing dentistry for more than 25 years and I am very passionate about my work. My mission is to thrive with compassion, dedication and experience. The best part of dentistry is the ability to establish a lasting relationship with my patients, keeping them healthy and happy.
For my education, I received my undergraduate degree at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus and then attended the school of dentistry at the University of Puerto Rico and received my DMD in 1982. I am a certified Invisalign provider and I am also a member of the Virginia Academy of General Dentistry. Because I want to give my patients the best dental care, I regularly attend courses in continuing education. Most recently I attended implant courses offered by the Northern Virginia Dental Society and by the University of Pennsylvania Dental School.
I have been married for almost 30 years to another dentist, Carlos Aponte and have two beautiful children. My son Carlos is currently in Law School and my daughter, Cristina recently graduated from college and completed a Computer Animation Bachelor's Degree.
I am a breast cancer survivor and the love and support from my family, friends and patients has been a driving force in my recovery. I love to exercise and my favorite is the spinning classes. I also love to travel with my family and learn about other countries and their cultures.

Michelle Serrano
Michelle Serrano-Fader has been a dental assistant since 1999. She has been working with Dr. Batistas since 2004. She is bilingual in both Spanish and English. She enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
Sierra Simmons
Hey! I'm Sierra. I am a proud dental assistant as well as the pediatric hygiene assistant. I enjoy assisting with all three doctors and hygienists when needed. I'm delighted to get to work with such an awsome and hard working staff. I love working with children. So by being the pediatric hygiene assistant, I feel lucky to get to clean the children's teeth. I feel prviledged knowing I have an impact on the children when teaching and demonstrating the importance of good oral hygiene at a young age.
When I'm not at work, I am in school to one day soon become a registered dental hygienist. I like going to the gym, snowboarding, the beach and being outside. Most of all I love hanging out with my two little sisters and spending time with family and friends.
Cassie Cornell
As one of the newest members of the Railroad team, I am delighted to be surrounded by smiling faces each day at work. Between the talented and sensitive doctors, the ever-helpful front desk staff, and the entire team of fun and friendly hygienists and assistants, it’s no wonder so many patients have been coming here for years. My favorite part of being a dental assistant is helping patients realize it’s okay to relax and even laugh while visiting the dentist!
When I’m not at work, you’ll find me gardening, reading, at the gym or spending time with my four brothers and sisters.
Geof Racine
As one of the assistants in our practice, it is extremely rewarding to know that you are really making a difference. I have been working in dentistry for the past eight years and have learned to really love the hard stuff. Currently I am assisting with sedation dentistry and helping people to overcome their fear of the dentist, while preventing children from developing one. I really enjoy all of the staff I work with who are like a family to me. This practice really is a home away from home.
I currently live with my dog Mia, she is the most awesome thing in my life right now. I am attending George Mason University to receive a second Bachelors of Arts degree and in my spare time I like to help fix my parents house and hang out with friends.
